Nightingale of Indiana Does It Again

In the current times with economic slowdowns, joblessness, and skyrocketing costs of nearly everything, it would be easy for a company to lesson quality and customer service, but for one Indiana based corporation that is not the case. 
Nightingale Home Healthcare has just been named in the 2010 HomeCare Elite™, a compilation of the top performing home health agencies in the United States. Being named five years in a row makes Nightingale the only Home Health Agency to achieve this feat in the entire state of IN. The HomeCare Elite™ annual review identifies the Top 25 percent of agencies. Winners are ranked by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, quality improvement, and financial performance.
As phenomenal as that is, given the current times, Nightingale achieved this same award for two of their newly opened offices in Houston, Texas and Family Home Health Services in Hilliard, Ohio. Nightingale of Ft. Lauderdale, FL earned the achievement for the second straight year.

The 2010 Home Care Elite™ is the only performance recognition of its kind in the home health industry, and is brought to the industry by OCS, Inc., the leading provider of homecare information, and Decision Health.
OCS uses publicly available data from Home Health Compare and the CMS Cost Reports to create the HomeCare Elite list of agencies. Three domains of performance were cumulatively calculated-quality of care, quality improvement, and financial performance. The quality of care measure indexes agency performance in each of the 12 publicly reported Home Health Compare measures released in April 2010. The quality improvement index is based on changes in the 12 outcomes between data released in September 2009 and April 2010. The financial performance measure represents agency indexed profit margin from the 2009 CMS Cost Reports (or 2008 adjusted when 2009 data was not available).
Agency performance in each of the three domains was compared against the performance of other organizations in their state and in the country. The three domains were combined into one overall score, using a weighting methodology that gives the greatest importance to quality of care. The top 25% of agencies in each region, both facility-based and free-standing, were identified and added to the national list. Additionally, the top 100 and 500 agencies in the country were recognized based on overall score.
